Nissan Magnite has received its second price hike since its launch in the Indian market. The turbo variants of the Magnite in India are now dearer by up to INR 30,000. The turbo-petrol variants of the Magnite are now priced between INR 7.29 lakh and INR 9.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Magnite received its first price hike in January, when the company revised the base variant’s price. As per unconfirmed reports, the price hike can be attributed to the shortage of semiconductor chips which was triggered by the U.S. government's trade sanctions on Chinese companies including Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. The shortage has now worsened due to the steep increase in demand for electronics and personal computers amid the pandemic. Experts say that the semiconductor shortage is likely to continue up until the first quarter of FY22.Will the price hike in India increase the price of turbo variants in Nepal too? As of today, we haven't received any news regarding the same, but, as supply struggles to keep up due to driven demand for semiconductors, expect an increase in the production costs. Pioneer Motocorp did not immediately respond to Nepal Drives' request for comment. The Magnite is available with two engine options. These include a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 71 BHP and 96 Nm and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol unit that makes 99 BHP and 160 Nm. Both engines are offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Magnite sub-compact SUV was recently launched in Nepal at a starting price of Rs 29.49 Lakh.
